Sigma Kudos is a leading, global supplier of technical documentation with operations in Sweden,
Finland, France, Hungary, Ukraine and China. Sigma Kudos was created in 2007 following Sigma’s
acquisition of Kudos subsidiaries.
In order to build a global brand and reputation focused on the area of product documentation,
the company was given a new name - Sigma Kudos. The group includes the companies previously known
as Sigma Information Design, Kudos Finland, Kudos France and Kudos Hungary.
Currently, the company employs over 550 specialists within the fields of technical and
product documentation and related services such as Embedded Design and Information Management. We
predict continued strong growth and profitability.
History of Kudos
Kudos started trading in 1991 as Kudos Partnership Ltd., at that time offering a range of
services in IT recruitment, specializing in providing technical authors to its clients. In the
mid-1990s the company expanded its services in the technical writing field by offering project
management and outsourcing services in addition to recruitment. In 2000, the two services were of
such a size that the Board decided to create two separate companies. In January 2001 Kudos
Recruitment Ltd. and Kudos Information Ltd. were created.
In 1996 Kudos opened an office in Wilmslow, the UK. In 1999 Kudos won a long-term outsourcing
contract with Hewlett Packard Telecommunications Division and established a third office in
Grenoble, France. As a result of a global outsourcing contract with Nokia in 2000, Kudos set up
offices in Helsinki, Finland and Budapest, Hungary in 2001.
In May 2001 Kudos acquired the majority of the business of e-Publishing, Inc, a wholly owned
subsidiary of a US company Broadvision Inc. This acquisition established Kudos in the US with a
presence in 4 key high-tech centers, namely Boston, Raleigh, Dallas and Santa Clara.
In 2004 Kudos established an office in Debrecen, Hungary to support global service delivery
and provide cost-efficient solutions.
History of Sigma Information Design
The operations of Sigma Information Design started in the early 1990s as a
department of 5 consultants. An unbroken period of expansion began in 1994, and by 1997 the
operations had grown to about 30 consultants.
Sigma AB was listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1997, and Sigma Information Design
became a wholly owned subsidiary. The offices in Malmö and Växjö were opened in 1998.
Three acquisitions followed: Infohouse in Karlstad and Improve in Växjö were acquired and
incorporated successfully in 2000 and 2001, respectively.
In April 2006, the Ukrainian company Eclipse SP was acquired as the first step in the
globalization of Sigma Information Design and later that year in November 2006, the office in
Beijing was opened.
In December 2006 Sigma announced the intent to acquire the European subsidiaries of Kudos, as
well as 25% of the US business. On February 1, 2007, after two months of intensive work among all
parties, the acquisition took place. We have also announced the intent to acquire the majority of
shares in Kudos’ Malaysian operations.
